NHS Staff Raise £600 for Health Stars

Two committed staff members from Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust have raised £600 for Health Stars after completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.

Motivated by a desire to make a difference to patients across the Trust, Kayleigh and Sarah from the Trust’s YOURHealth Service took on the 24-mile trek across Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough to say thank you for the support Health Stars has provided to both patients and staff.

“Being outdoors helps build resilience and supports mental wellbeing,” said Sarah. “We wanted to raise awareness of that, while also fundraising for a cause that genuinely improves patient experiences.”

The challenge wasn’t easy as tough weather and physical demands tested them throughout the day. “We both found it physically tough”, continued, Sarah. “But the support from fellow walkers and the incredible views made it worthwhile.”

The pair hope the funds raised will help create more comfortable, therapeutic spaces and opportunities for patients across the Trust. “If it helps just one person feel at ease or discover a new interest, it’s worth it”, said Kayleigh Barrington, Team Leader, YOURhealth.

They’re already thinking about what challenge to take on next.
