Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust Staff to Take the Leap for Health Stars

07/08/25

On 6 September 2025, a brave group of staff from Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust will be swapping terra firma for blue skies as they take on a daring sky dive to raise funds for Health Stars, the Trust’s official charity.

Staff from adult and young people’s mental health inpatient units – including Westlands, Mill View Lodge, and Inspire – along with colleagues from the Fitzwilliam Ward, a community nursing ward at Malton Community Hospital, will be taking a thrilling 10,000-foot skydive to raise funds to enhance the patient experience across their wards.

The aim of the initiative is to generate vital funds to support projects that go beyond what the NHS budget alone can provide. From enhancing patient spaces to funding life changing equipment, the money raised will have a positive impact for those receiving care.

Emily Wood, Clinical Effectiveness Lead at Inspire said:

“There are nine very brave members of the Inspire team taking part, I couldn't be prouder of them. There are a few nerves but knowing we are doing this to make the outdoor space for our patients and families more welcoming and calming makes it all worthwhile.'

Among the skydivers is Non-Executive Director Priyanka Perera, who is joining front-line staff in this exhilarating challenge to show solidarity and support for the Health Stars mission.

“This is more than a thrill-seeking adventure,” said Priyanka Perera. “It’s about making meaningful change. I am so humbled by friends and family who have supported my effort from places as far away as Australia Singapore and New Zealand. Every pound we raise will go directly into improving patient care across the Trust.”

Anita Green, Charity Manager, said: “It’s amazing to see so many staff willing to take on this challenge. I think it highlights the dedication of teams across the Trust to ensuring that patients receive the very best care.”

The fundraising campaign welcomes support from colleagues, friends, families, and the wider community. Donations will go directly to Health Stars, fuelling efforts to deliver tangible improvements across the Trust.
