Six brave supporters raised an incredible £1,516 for Health Stars after successfully completing the Big Hull Charity Firewalk on Thursday 24 September, helping to fund projects that enhance patient care and experience across Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust.
Taking on the challenge of walking barefoot across hot embers, the team showed remarkable courage and determination, cheered on by family, friends and colleagues throughout the evening.
Reflecting on the experience, participant Marie Dawson, Project Manager, said: "Once I committed and took the first step, everything happened very quickly. I was so focused on getting across that I didn't really have time to think about the heat. It was intense, exciting and empowering all at the same time.
"The sense of achievement when I reached the other side was incredible."
Joining us for the firewalk were local charities WISHH, Hull and East Yorkshire Children's University, and Hilltop Sports and Community Trust. More than 30 fundraisers took on the challenge, raising vital funds to support projects that improve mental health, education, wellbeing and patient care across the region.
Anita Green, Charity Manager for Health Stars, said: "We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took part in this year's Big Hull Charity Firewalk for Health Stars. Raising £1,516 is a fantastic achievement, but what makes it even more special is knowing that every pound raised will help us support patients, families and staff across the Trust. Thank you for helping us continue to fund projects that make a meaningful difference to patient care."
