Handheld Fans

“It’s great to be able to provide handheld fans to patients who may struggle to buy their own and help manage their difficult symptoms of breathlessness.”

The Home Oxygen Service assess patients with a range of respiratory conditions who may be suitability for home oxygen therapy and provide ongoing review, supportand advice to the patient and their carers about living with oxygen therapy.

The specialist team of respiratory specialists work closely with the Community Respiratory Nurse, Physiotherapists and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team to offer support to patients with chronic respiratory disease.

Following a kind donation from a patient of the service the team contacted Health Stars to request a funding for somehandheld fans to help manage breathlessness in their patients.

“Many of our patients with chronic lung disease suffer with breathlessness, said “Liz Hudson, Specialist Respiratory Practitioner. “To help patients manage their symptoms we teach them specialist breathing techniques and pacing activities. In addition to these techniques, we wanted to give patients a handheld fan as evidence shows they help relieve the sensation of breathlessness.”

“It’s great to be able to provide handheld fans to patients who may struggle to buy their own and help manage their difficult symptoms of breathlessness,” said Liz.

“Your donations help enhance the health care and experiences of thousands of people using mental health, neurodiversity, learning disability, children’s and young people and local NHS services every day,” said Anita Green, Health Stars Charity Manager.
