Health Stars Half Marathon

This year for her annual Chief Executive Challenge, Michele Moran will take on a 13.1 miles journey across Hull to raise vital funds which enhance local NHS services.

This year each stage of the walk will pause at one of the eight Mental Health inpatient wards in the city to raise awareness for the 1 in 3 people who are living with mental health problems but are not seeking treatment of support.

Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust run local mental health services, children’s services such as health visiting and school nursing, learning disability and neurodiversity services and primary care including GP practices in Cottingham, Market Weighton and Bridlington.

Michele will be joined at each leg of her journey by members of her 3600 strong local NHS team from Psychiatrists psychologists and physiotherapist to nurses and those that work in vital roles behind the scenes in maintenance, communications, and administration.

The Route

The route travels from East Hull across to the West Hull villages of Cottingham and Willerby stopping at the Trust’s eight in-patient mental health wards.

Mental health inpatient services are for people who can no longer be supported at home and need to be admitted to hospital due to severe mental health problems. These can be functional mental illnesses (such as depression or schizophrenia) or organic mental illnesses (such as dementia).

Our inpatient services aim to help patients become well enough to return to living in their local community, whether that’s in their own home or in a nursing/care home.

Each ward supports a different group of patients including children and young people, adult men and women (17-65) and older adults (65 and over).
